Contact the KEET Community Advisory Board

The Communications Act states that public television stations like KEET must establish a Community Advisory Board (CAB).  The role of the CAB is solely advisory in nature, except to the extent other responsibilities are delegated to the CAB by the KEET Board of Directors. In no case shall the CAB have any authority to exercise any control over the daily management or operation of KEET. 

The Act requires that stations make good faith efforts to ensure that the CAB meets at regular intervals; the CAB members regularly attend its meetings; and the CAB reasonably represents the diverse needs and interests of the communities served by the station.

A CAB may establish and follow its own schedule and agenda. The CAB’s structure and composition, including the number of members, their terms, and method of appointment and removal, is established by the station’s governing body. The KEET CAB is a group of up to 15 individuals.  CAB members serve two-year terms with a maximum of three consecutive terms.  You can view the KEET Community Advisory Board Guidelines as approved by the Board of Directors here. 

The CAB’s responsibilities are to review the programming goals established by KEET, review the service provided by KEET, review the significant policy decisions rendered by KEET and advise the KEET Board of Directors whether the programming and other policies of the station are meeting the educational and cultural needs of communities served by KEET. The CAB may make recommendations as it considers appropriate to the Board of Directors to meet those needs.
