Screening and Discussion - November 30th at 6:00pm

Host and film director Linda Stansberry will lead panelists discussing suicide prevention in Humboldt County. 

Some topics to be covered include the challenges in mental healthcare, the current suicide trends, gaps in the current system, and community solutions. There will be a discussion about the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) of Humboldt County and the community survey to see where the county can strengthen its mental health programs.  

The panelists include:

-Amy Terrones (Community Resources Director and Family Resource Center Coordinator for SoHum Health)
-Mark Lamers (Clinical Psychologist for the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services) 
-Gardner Carlson( Retired Senior Psychiatric Technician from Napa State Hospital and Father who lost his son to suicide)
-Oliver Gonzalez Bobadilla.(Mental Health Services Act Coordinator)

Seeing the Signs - Hybrid Premiere

A documentary following two stories about surviving suicide and living with the loss of a loved one to suicide. Lea Nagy of NAMI Humboldt and Dr. Virgil Moorehead Jr. of Two Feathers Native American Family Services talk about ways to spot suicidal behavior and how to address it. Suicide is preventable.
