Sunday, September 15, 2024 - Make it float at the Kinetic Classic

The Kinetic Classic inspires creativity and teamwork, helping build the next generation of Kinetic Grand Championship racers. Participants will navigate their human-powered, artistic contraptions through a challenging course that tests their art, pageantry, and engineering skills.

As part of the festivities, Kinetic Universe is partnering with local PBS station KEET-TV to present the “Make It Float” workshop. Participants will watch a segment from the new Ken Burns documentary LEONARDO DA VINCI and then create a floating vessel from tin foil and marbles. This hands-on activity blends da Vinci’s inventive spirit with the thrill of kinetic sculpture racing. Additional da Vinci-themed activities will take place leading up to the Kinetic Classic.

The Classic runs from noon to 2 PM, and spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on the young racers as they tackle the obstacles and demonstrate their ingenuity. The event is free for participants, with categories for all age groups.
