Our Mission
MISSION STATEMENT:
KEET is a community-supported organization that uses public media to present diverse perspectives which educate, inspire, and entertain.
VISION STATEMENT:
Be an essential, trusted resource for discovering new experiences and ideas that lead to more informed, inclusive communities in Humboldt County and beyond.
VALUES:
Trust - Provide accurate information and accessible, reliable service to our diverse communities.
Mutual Respect - Foster understanding and fair treatment amongst ourselves and our diverse communities.
Partnership - Cultivate relationships with organizations and individuals who share our commitment to improving the quality of life in our diverse communities.
Land Acknowledgment
KEET acknowledges that the land on which we are based is unceded territory and traditional ancestral homeland of the Wiyot Tribe.
KEET also acknowledges that the areas we serve include (but are not limited to) the Wiyot, Hupa, Karuk, Mattole, Tolowa, Wailaki, Yurok, Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria, and other original inhabitants of Humboldt County.
We respect and share our gratitude to Indigenous communities, and we take this opportunity to thank and honor the original caretakers of land they continue to cherish and protect, as elders have instructed the young through generations.
We encourage those in Wiyot territory to make a contribution to the Honor Tax, a system set up by local non-native people as one way to acknowledge the sacrifices and resiliency of the Wiyot people. Though there is no similar system for other Tribes in the region, we encourage direct giving to Tribes and Native-led efforts.
